Job Summary

Carrying out assessments and ensuring the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the mission’s WATSAN & Vector control activities in real time, a spatial analysis of the situation in the field, according to MSF protocols and standards in order to ensure an optimal running of the project activities. To be able to deal with other actors inside the camp and outside the camp and maintain good relations with them.

Required Criteria
Minimum Educational Qualification: University Diploma in WATSAN/Vector control.

Experience: –


• Essential experience in managing data collection, entry and maintenance and in managing or developing databases
• Strong practical experience in WATSAN & Vector control.
• Pedagogical skills is a strong asset
• At least 2 years’ experience in specialist area
• Work experience with MSF, other NGOs and in developing countries desirable

Languages: English (fluent, oral & written), French+ Swahili is an asset.
Competences: Stress management, Teamwork and cooperation, results oriented, teamwork, flexibility, commitment, service, organised.

Main Responsibilities

MSF is currently operating 4 Health Posts and one screening centre (at the reception). MSF Hospital is connected to the Nduta Camp water network run by Oxfam.

  • Manage the maintenance of the Hospital water network, cleaning of the 5 tanks, (totaling 60,000L), upkeep of the pipe network, and manage the connections for each ward.
  • Ensure vector control (IRS) in MSF premises – Base, hospital and Guesthouse (spray every three months)
  • Manage the maintenance of the Health Post water connections, ensuring a constant supply of water for all health posts, for connected health posts manage pipe network, for not yet connect health posts manage water trucking, cleaning of each of the tank in all the health posts.
  • Manage the chlorination of the hospital water supply; health posts water supply, chlorine for cleaning hospital wards, and health posts.
  • Manage the medical waste produced outside the hospital (collection and transport)
  • Manage the Vector Control project, overseeing the larvae collection, light trap placements, data management, and larviciding campaign, mosquito nets distribution tracking the maintenance of the mosquito traps, and charging for the batteries.
  • Participate in Watsan cluster meetings and maintain a good relationship with Oxfam officials
  • Organizes monthly vector control meeting
  • Recycling training for hygienists and control vector team
  • Responsible of all WATSAN related camp logistical activities (distribution of mosquito nets, vaccinations, surveys, spraying of larvicide, etc.)
  • Responsible for management and training of the team as per MSF standard procedures.
