Job Title: Deputy Chief of Party -Endangered Ecosystems Northern Tanzania

Location: Tanzania

 BA/BS degree and 7 years’ experience in conservation practice or related field such as protected area management, community conservation, natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 Experience developing partnerships and maintaining positive relationships with Tanzanian government, non-profit organizations, and community groups.

 Experience managing complex or multiple donor-funded projects in Tanzania, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other professionals and partners.   

Experience implementing projects with rigorous timelines and deliverables and tracking program quality through donor approved monitoring and evaluation systems.
 Demonstrated experience influencing, developing, and implementing conservation policy and plans at the country or regional level. 
 Experience negotiating.
 Written and verbal communication proficiency in English and Kiswahili
 Ability to effectively lead participatory meetings and workshops. 
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

 Experience implementing USAID-funded projects strongly preferred.
 Knowledge of Tanzania’s environment sector and wildlife management policies, laws, and development issues.
 Experience implementing initiatives that mainstream gender and youth empowerment.
 Experience incorporating climate change adaptation into the planning and implementation of activities in the natural resources sector

Multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience.
 Knowledge of methods and standards for rangeland management, land use planning, or related fields.
 Politically savvy.
 Comfortable operating in a non-hierarchical and collegial manner.
 Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives, and managing performance.

 Relationship building skills to work closely with a variety of partners, i.e., media, government officials, internal scientists. 
 Experience completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).
 Excellent communication skills via written, spoken and graphical means in Swahili.
 Professional working proficiency in written and spoken English.
 Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc.
Database management experience.
Experience with coordination tools such as shared calendars and information portals.
Excellent communication skills via written, spoken, and graphical means in English.
Proficiency in spoken Maasai.
Understanding of Tanzanian government systems that affect natural resources and rangeland management from the village to national level.
Experience coordinating administrative processes.
Experience generating reports and interpreting data.
Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
Experience organizing time and managing diverse activities to meet deadlines.
Experience working across teams and communicating with a wide range of people.
Understanding of current trends in conservation and rangeland management in Northern Tanzania.

Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Tuungane Project

MS or BS degree and certification in related field and 5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bilingual in Kiswahili and English (speaking, reading and writing).
Experience using DHIS2 for project monitoring.
Experience writing project progress reports.
Experience working in the Kigoma Region of Tanzania.
Willing to live and work in Kigoma, Tanzania.
Experience using GIS-based results monitoring.
Experience managing and supervising a data collection team.

Experience in interpretation of data.
Experience in donor reporting requirements.
Knowledge of REDD+ projects.
Knowledge of current trends and practices in project monitoring.
Experience collaborating with other parties to obtain data.
