Position: Investigator

Reporting to: Head of Internal Audit

Basic function:
The objective of this position is the planning, execution, reporting, and monitoring of specific research tasks at the Tanzania Microfinance Bank Ltd Vision Fund under the direction of VFT's Chief Audit and Investigation Officer.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
a) Writing memoranda on research commitments and developing and implementing investigation procedures to validate fraud, corruption, waste, embezzlement and reported abuse.
(b) Conduct and/or carry out financial and operational investigations at the VFT Headquarters, offices and shopping centers containing fraud, waste and abuse reports in accordance with PFD and VFT policies and procedures.
(c) review and assess alleged fraud allegations through in-depth review and analysis of documents and physical evidence, contacts with applicants, witnesses, and experts. The incumbent conducts fraud investigations and reports to the VFT Internal Audit Director and Investigator, and prepares and supports the implementation of preventive measures to reduce the risk of fraud.
(d) investigate all reported suspicious activity and report to the Chief Internal Audit and Investigations; Interact with external partners such as law enforcement agencies, suppliers, and banks to review information and determine the validity of fraud allegations.
e) Manage the whistleblower hotline, whistle to keep the complaint file, keep the whistleblower strictly confidential and investigate fraud, corruption, waste, misappropriation, and abuse.
f) Join the other internal audit team to conduct the normal audit as long as there are no cases of fraud to be investigated.

Main qualifications and experience

I. Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, law, criminal justice, finance or related fields.
ii. CFE - certification or certification related to fraud investigations iii. Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
iv. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or CA (Chartered Accountant).

Preferred skills, knowledge, and experience:
1. 3 years professional experience in research, audit
2. Data analysis/data mining capabilities
3. Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening and building relationships
4. Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills
5. Proven ability to promote team building and interpersonal skills for a successful outcome
6. Good time management for tasks that are done on time
7. Experience with investigations or audits of financial institutions

Other skills
1. Must be a motivated person who can work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision
2. Knowledge of English and Swahili, strong verbal and written communication skills.
3. Ability to present results with strong presentation, excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Proven experience to produce quality results under pressure.
